How do you get on track after a binge?
I get this question a lot! First, I've learned not to necessarily binge on those stressful days. I allow myself to eat more, but by saying it's okay I stop when I'm full and I get back to work. After all, the reason you are stressed is often because of the pressure of too much to do, so go do it!
The steps of getting tasks done help you to feel better. So does exercise and getting your blood pumping. It doesn't have to be all or nothing!
So many of our problems are due to this ALL or NOTHING mentality. I get it. I'm that girl, and that tendency will always tug at me.
In case anyone wondered if I have crap eating days, yes! Yesterday I worked on my term paper and I got it done! But the day got off to a very bad start, the college online login didn't work and I could not get to the research database. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I had blocked off these two days to get my term paper done and needed the the time to research. I made due with Google and the internet, but missed out on the full text papers and books from the database. It finally came back up halfway through the day! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I was so mad! OMG, I called their support number and got someone who barely spoke English and knew right away I was wasting precious time answering questions as politely as I could knowing it would go no where. I was put on hold and then told to call the College IT number. I asked what that was since it wasn't on the web page (the number to this lady I was wasting my time with was!). Then I called the IT number and they are only open M-T. I was boiling mad! OMG! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I know it's dumb to get so mad about a term paper and technology! I know it. Nothing life threatening about this. Once I calmed down it was like an adrenaline dump. I wanted to eat everything in sight all day, and I had this paper to write and research to do. Finally the logins worked and that was great. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I ate extra carbs (bread with butter, oatmeal, a tortilla) while I worked, and peanut butter. It was so good! It was over the course of the day and it felt good and I felt like it helped me with my work. I managed to get the appropriate amount of protein in, but that's usually pretty easy when I'm over my TDEE. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Today is a new day. How do I get back on track? Get a workout in asap. Drink lots of water. Fresh squeezed lemon, vitamins, my optigreens50, and all the things that signal my brain to do self care. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Eat normal. Nice appropriate portions all day. Nothing drastic. And happy because the term paper is done! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Happy Sunday!
What is your reset when things go wrong?
Accountability and taking pictures does help! It puts you in reality.
No more newspapers or contest cards! The new app has a camera that does this for you. Go ahead, give it a try. I'll help you when you are ready.
I've done these before and after contests before, for so many years. Now I help others do them, and what I love the most is that we help you live a sustainable lifestyle. It's not a biggest loser contest. It's not the amount of pounds. It's how your body changes, and if you really do the work it shows in your pictures!
You have to do the work, every day. It's nothing drastic, it's little steps.
Oh and the contest isn't just for 8 weeks. It goes on all year. They pick an overall winner for the year, as well as the short challenges. We are going into the third week of a short sprint right now. But that doesn't mean you can't join NOW.
See the thing is, life will always get in the way. The time is now. Do not wait to be perfect, or for the perfect time, that will never happen. The time is always now.
And just like I said in the first half of this post, when you are not perfect and life gets in the way, you just roll forward the next day. It's not the first, it won't be the last. It's life.
That's how you win. If you want help winning that game, sign up in the free app and check it out. Once you sign up, email me with your weight, height, and gender and I'll give you some nutrition pointers.
Let's go baby, let's go. Out with the old, in with the new.
Who wants to get ready for summer?
